Kent took an early retirement from Rochester Institute of Technology, National Technical Institute for the Deaf, to open RockVentures in 1995. As a senior, tenured, faculty member Kent specialized in human development, training, team building and educational travel. He mentored more than 25 world-wide Outward Bound Interns and initiated the RIT Red Barn Leadership Training Program. Past experiences include the Peace Corps in W. Africa, guiding blind Athletes with the US Disabled Nordic Ski Team, founding the disabled ski program at Swain Ski Center, kayaking off southern Mexico and climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro
